PEL Wins Three Silver Innovation Prizes

Groton, CT - Dr. Morton L. Wallach, President and CEO of PEL Associates at 1084 Shennecossett Rd. announces that PEL Associates has won three silver Connecticut Innovation Prizes (CIP) from the CQIA Partnership, the State’s leader in creating and recognizing performance excellence in Connecticut organizations.

The award is for new and novel airport and aircraft applications of our smart polymeric micro-sensors and smart renewable coatings. These include: 1) Aircraft De-Icing System Via Removable Micro Coatings on Command, and 2) Airport Perimeter Security Via Smart Micro Sensor Detection System, and 3) Aircraft Wind Shear Security Via Micro Sensor Detection System. PEL is located at the Marine Sciences & Technology Center at the University of Connecticut in Groton, CT.

The CQIA Innovation Prize is broadly based on the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award for Performance Excellence’s three principles of Approach, Deployment and Results. Deployment and Results here are translated into CIP’s criteria of Opportunity, Innovation and Numerical Results. All applications were judged by 15 Baldridge–trained CQIA examiners; Dr. Wallach was one of the examiners for the 101 applicants.
