PEL Wins Energy Summit Award

Groton, CT - PEL Associates won the 2010 Business Energy Summit Award on “Energy Innovation and Conservation” for its ship hull coating technology (Smart Coating Systems). The event held at the Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Rocky Hill, CT was sponsored by the Hartford Business Journal. The meeting was headlined by well known expert energy panelists, and presentations from three selected companies who reviewed their capabilities for conservation of energy.

PEL Associates ship hull coating technology provides energy savings, reduced carbon dioxide greenhouse gas emission and resulting reduced climate change. With less fouling and less interfacial drag, less power is required to drive the ship, and less fuel is burned, and less carbon dioxide released with 10% savings estimated at 160 million or more lbs of CO2 per day for cargo vessels alone.

Otherwise little progress has been made to control CO2 emissions (e.g., from coal burning plants, and automobiles) to date, and expected in the next decade or two, says Jeffrey Ball commenting in the Wall Street Journal, (11/27/10) on expectations of United Nations International Climate Conference in Cancun, Mexico next week.

Accompanying the Energy Summit Award is the proclamation from Governor Jodi Rell honoring PELs outstanding service and commitment to excellence, hard work and dedication to innovation, and leadership. The Governor also celebrated our many contributions to the state of Connecticut and the conservation of energy.
