command. The concept employs specially designed coating arrays which will
release a layer via triggers of electrical, acoustic or microwave energy.
Applications involve defouling of ships, drug delivery, and electric circuit
modification technology. Examples include:
defouling of ships, cooling systems, equipment or clothing
removal of bacteria from hospital areas or schools
removal of toxic agents from military equipment
drug delivery via stents or other systems
delivery of fragrances or aerosols
vehicle interior or exterior alteration or decoration
paint or ice removal from autos, aircraft or other vehicles
removal of ice from roads and pathways
In circuit applications, triggered coating release can modify electronic or
photonic circuit components creating new and novel communication features.
Examples include:
change in color of an interference filter
switching of a router or other microelectronic device
